Myopathies are a heterogeneous group of disorders that can be challenging to diagnose. There are several diagnostic tests for the evaluation of patients with myopathy. Creatine kinase (CK), electromyography can be used to confirm myopathy. Ancillary tests such as ischemic forearm exercise tests, autoantibody tests, muscle magnetic resonance imaging should be considered in certain patients. Muscle biopsy is a crucial test in differential diagnosis of myopathies. Recent advances in genetic analysis have led to more fast and convenient diagnosis of myopathy. The appropriate application of these various diagnostic studies will bring accurate diagnosis to the patients with myopathy.
